Born: November 26. is one of the most striking figures in the Belarusian literature of the XX century. He became the first Belarusian writer to turn to the genre of a historical detective. The work of Vladimir Korotkevich is distinguished by a romantic orientation, high artistic culture, patriotic pathos and humanistic sound. The writer significantly enriched Belarusian literature in thematic and genre relations, filled it with intellectual and philosophical content.
The author’s works as the novel “Wild Hunting of the King of Stah”, “Wild Legend”, the novels “Elders under your sickle”, “Christ landed in Grodno”, “The Black Castle Olshansky”, the Essay under the White Wings ”are most famous. Born in the city of Orsha Vitebsk region in the family of an accountant. During the Great Patriotic War with his family, he was in evacuation in the Perm region, later in Orenburg.
In the year, Vladimir Korotkevich returned to Orsha, where he received secondary education. In the years he studied at the Faculty of Philology of Kyiv State University. Then he finished graduate school in it. He worked as a teacher in a rural school in the Kyiv region of Ukraine, and then in his hometown, Orsha. Later he studied at the highest literary courses and the Institute of Cinematography, the Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after Gerasimova in Moscow and became a professional writer.
His first publication, a poem of the year, was followed by three books of poetry. He later became a prose writer, at first several collections of stories were released. In general, his prose is connected with the topics of the historical past of Belarus, such as the January uprising - and the Great Patriotic War. Korotkevich also wrote several plays, essays, articles, scripts for short and full-length feature films.
