The teacher, who became General Saydamir Zukhurov, was born on February 20 in the Parkharsky district. After school, I decided to enter the Pedagogical Institute. At the end of the university, young Saydamir began working as a history teacher in a rural school.

At first, when I was invited to work in the KGB of the USSR, I was confused, I doubted it, but then it became my whole life, ”he recalls. In the year, General Zukhurov was appointed to the post of chairman of the National Security Committee of Independent Tajikistan. Then the Minister of the Interior, and again the Minister of Security. In those troubled years, he was appointed to the most complex areas by the head of the security agencies, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, responsible for law enforcement agencies, the chairman of the newly formed committee for the protection of state border.

He later headed the Department for the Protection of State Secrets under the Government of the country. He always performed all the tasks set for him with honor. Zukhurov then, risking his own life, went to negotiations to the militants alone, without protection. And he offered himself as a hostage to release civilians.

In those years, Saidamir Zukhurov repeatedly spoke about strengthening ties with neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan in those years.

He considers the renewal of friendly relations between Dushanbe and Tashkent the most important event of recent years. We will not list all his positions, we will only say that having begun with the first step of the operative of the district department, over the years he went a large and glorious way of service in the state security system not only in our country, but also in Afghanistan, in the central apparatus.

He had the opportunity to stay at work in Moscow, where he was offered an apartment and a high position, but, without hesitation, he returned to his native Tajikistan. Then, even in the relatively young years, Saidamir Zukhurovich already had a solid work experience and the formed character of a demanding, fair, exceptionally modest and decent Chekist-leader, the formed. It was such a person that we expected to see as the head of the national security bodies of independent sovereign Tajikistan in November.

It can be safely argued that in those years he laid the first traditions of the security organs of independent Tajikistan. And this largely contributed to the fact that our special services consistently fulfilled their duty, protecting and preserving the foundations of the state in the most difficult period of its modern history. Over the past years, not only his colleagues recognized him closely and loved him, the ordinary people of the country, to whom he gave hope for a calm and peaceful future, is sincerely grateful to him.

His contribution to the achievement of peace in Tajikistan is huge. In acute situations, his advice and decisions were perceived by participants in the conflict with special trust, caused not so much by his official status as his high authority and wisdom of a person who sincerely believes in the mind and potential of his people. This was noted by former field commanders and individual “hot heads” on both sides.

It is no coincidence that he quickly found a common language and really made friends with the legendary Ahmad Shah Masud, and with sincere pain, as his brother experienced his tragic death. We, who worked next to him, cannot but note that it was surprisingly combined with stiffness and even severity in communication with subordinates otherwise at that time with humanity and high decency.

He perceived the inevitable losses in the war years, he perceived the death of his employees as a personal grief, not embarrassed by his feelings, and always paid a lot of attention to helping the families of the dead. His friends and associates in many countries of the former USSR recall Saidamir Zukhurovich with special respect and warmth. He stood at the origins of the creation of our border troops, which he subsequently headed for two years.

His experience was in demand in the internal affairs bodies, and in the work of protecting state secrets, and at the high state post of the country's deputy prime minister. Today he is a retired colonel, awarded the Orders of Ismoil Somoni 2 degrees, the Red Banner, “For Personal Courage” and many medals. He is married, has 8 children.
