Oleg Denisenko Biography

Lists of films by an artist born in the years later than his time wanderers, knights, alchemists and sorcerers, mythical creatures, biblical characters - the mysterious world of the Lviv graphics Oleg Denisenko fascinates. Rare luck is not only to see in Kyiv the work of a famous wizard working under the motto “Antiquitas Nova” New Antiquity, but also to chat with it. Guest at the exhibition "Equilibrium" in the Museum of Books and Printing!

My knight is a collective image of a person of honor who has his own beliefs and a life goal. And this struggle is still continuing the artist’s work in many museum meetings and private collections. In the year, Denisenko’s personal exhibition in the Olofstorm gallery was visited by King Karl Gustav and Queen Sylvia, the Swedish press published an article entitled “Oleg Denisenko, an artist born in years later than her time.” The book with its engravings is in the collection of the Dürer Museum.

Oleg Denisenko “Autportret”, wood, Levkas, butter - Oleg, your “self -portrait”, which meets the audience at the exhibition, resembles the work of old masters. Do you feel like a successor of their traditions? These two camps coexist in parallel and I like it. In my work, I do not exclude anything - I study new trends and draw inspiration in the old days.

And my “self -portrait”, which I recently wrote, has already become my talisman. When he was first seen at the exhibition in Lviv, many of my friends said that he surprisingly converts my character. My teacher advised me to never sell it and use it at personal exhibitions instead of photographs. At the Kyiv exhibition, this is the only picturesque work. Denisenko “Autoportest”, wood, Levkas, butter - Oleg, you have a series of engravings dedicated to your favorite artists - “Hommage A”.

Who are you admiring and who are your idols? This artist died not so long ago, he is considered a classic of German contemporary art, and he worked in the genre of fantastic realism. Denisenko “Hommage a: W. Tubke”, engraving O. Denisenko “Hommage a: A. Brunovsky”, engraving - how much time I will exist as an artist - I will create work dedicated to my beloved masters, whom I respect and whose work is very inspired by.

Is this your favorite image? When I was a little, the best gift for me was a pack of plasticine. I sculpted entire armies of knights of all time and peoples and I terribly liked it. Someone once very well noticed that an adult man differs from a child only in weight. This is about me. I try to preserve children's moments - they are unusually important. And just the image of the knight was preserved in my work.

In general, many of your characters are depicted with wings - why? And, indeed, in the “thirst for flight”, I put just the collective image of Leonardo da Vinci - the inventor, the artist and the humanist who has been looking for a way to climb into the sky - not only in the physical sense. Based on the power of his thoughts and divine power, he tries to find balance and balance, rise above the human vanity, over all the everyday and look at our world from above.

What are these texts? By signing the work in Latin, I invest a certain meaning: I invite the viewer to turn to certain sources, dictionaries and encourage him to joint creativity. As for calligraphic inscriptions - this is an imitation of medieval font, such elements complement the composition and perform a decorative function. Tell me, Oleg, how long does such a job be created? The person asks in surprise: “How?

You painted it for fifteen seconds and ask for 2 dollars for it?! Denisenko “balance”, wood, levkas, author’s technique, O. Denisenko’s fragment “Equilibrium”, wood, Levkas, author’s technique, fragment - Oleg, and where did the fascination with drawing, a desire to become an artist? These pictures captured me, and I dreamed of becoming an archaeologist, I wanted to connect my life with the history and material culture of antiquity.

I still every day, returning from the workshop, specially passes through the center, and every time I see it for the first time. Lviv is my favorite city, I feel it, I am inspired by him. Denisenko “Melody of Hope”, paper, etching - Oleg, once you said that symbolism is the basis of graphics. You will conduct for us a tour of "Working" Wandering Musician "? Denisenko" Wandering Musician "" Blucian Muzik " - the main message in this work is my great inner love for music.

When I work, music sounds. I listen to classics, jazz, rock - the main thing is that it is an intellectual product of a very high level. And, in fact, my character holds in his hands conductor's sticks - he seems to control the world. He stands on a ball that represents our land. The Babylonian tower is a symbol of the fragmentation of people, it created big problems in the existence of mankind: I created borders, divided people.

The unfinished tower ends with a conditional pyramid resembling a drawing - a kind of “idea of completion”.And the cone drawing is a symbol of thought that strives for the highest principle-to find harmony with heaven.

Oleg Denisenko Biography

Denisenko “Nota Re” from the Seven Notes series, paper, etching-your etchings, as workshops of the engravings of Dürer, you can look at and find something new for hours. Tell me, do you feel like a sort of “sorcerer in art”? When they ask me what I wanted to say in my work, I feel awkward, because so much has been done, many details, symbols were used, and if this is not enough, then I did something wrong, or a person does not want to understand something.

I am interested in the story of the viewer - your parable, your emotions from work. Sometimes you can hear something that I didn’t even think about! Some say that this is the brightest art that they saw, others call Gothic and some kind of half-drawing, others see the flight of the Renaissance-so many thoughts, and there is art for this. Denisenko “Secrets”, paper, etching - the perception of art must be learned in the same way as the very art itself.

It can be perceived at the level of intuition, but understanding requires certain knowledge, so the viewer must educate himself and constantly replenish his knowledge. She served as a secular Bible for people of that time and described all human vices. It tells about charlatans, pseudo -rachs, astrologers, bibliophiles who collect huge collections of books and never open them.

More than half of the millennium has passed, and nothing has changed in the world - this book is absolutely relevant and falls “in the top ten”! In my youth years, they inspired me and were very close to me in plastic. I thought it would be nice to try myself in this topic and create something of my own. In the year, I set to work and for a year and a half created one large linogram and a series of etchings.

The book was released in a circulation of nine copies. This is a very large part of my creative life, it took a lot of time and energy, but I am pleased to work with such things. For this publication, I chose a very high -quality paper of the manual tide of the Dutch company Hahnemuhle ivory Hahnemuhle, crushed alpine herbs were added to it, creating a special texture. By the way, Dürer also used the paper of this company.

Plus a leather cover, copyright sewing of the spine, the author’s book of O. Denisenko “The Ship of Fools” S. Brant at the balance of balance in Kyiv-is the very book that was exhibited at your exhibition at the Dürer House in Germany? Dürer in Nuremberg - "Dedication to Dürer." The book was exhibited at the exhibition and entered the collection of this museum. I am pleased that my book will adequately appear in one of the largest collection meetings related to the name of Dürer.

Another copy was acquired by the Royal Library in Amsterdam, several books were bought by private bibliophile collectors from Ukraine and Europe-all copies fell into good hands. But, starting to work on illustrations, at some point I realized that I was not an illustrator. An illustration is a separate type of art that requires a special approach, and I create parallel works - reminiscences, which are slightly in contact with the text.

This approach does not always like publishers. I see how Vladislav Yerko, my good friend, approaches my work, and I was also taught this way: if you take some author, you need to learn his biography, material culture, accessories who used the psychology of people who lived at that time-there should be a very serious approach to the book. Illustration: O.

Denisenko “Hunting for a unicorn”, paper, mascara, feather - it is much easier for me to make a book with my own hands and be a publisher, editor and censor. It would be my will, I would be engaged exclusively by the author’s book - this is a whole world for me! Directing, theater, craft, idea and inspiration. Books are a complex organism in which a huge number of art genres are intertwined, from printing - a font set, and then, consider: graphic design, the art of a stamp, binding, embossing is a very painstaking work in which the whole team takes part.

But it is difficult to constantly engage in the author’s book for a long time, costly and, unfortunately, not profitable. Although, I think, there would be an intellectual product - its connoisseur would be found. The lesson of the author’s book requires complete self -denial and classes only by it. They say that artists can be prophets and foresee the future, and since humanity develops in a spiral, it is not difficult to do this: using symbolism and ideology, you can “get” at a certain moment and the work will meet the “malice of the day”.

Denisenko “Victory” is Oleg, several sculptures are presented at the exhibition, as if found in excavations. What inspired you to create them? From the graphics, I first went to the board, levkas, the use of color, and then slowly to the plastic in bronze.
