Biography of Sadovsky

Mikhail Alexandrovich Sadovsky was born on October 24 in St. Petersburg. In the year he graduated from the Physics and Mechanical Department of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. During his studies, he specialized in geophysics and seismology, headed the laboratory of physics at the rabfak. From for the year, M. Sadovsky took an internship at the Institute of Applied Geophysics, after which he was sent to work at the Semological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

In the year, M. Sadovsky created and headed an acceleration laboratory at the institute. In the year, under the leadership of Mikhail Alexandrovich, a successful explosion was made to overlap the river bed during the construction of the Chirchik hydroelectric power station. For outstanding achievements in the year, Sadovsky appropriated the scientific degree of a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences without the defense of the dissertation.

During the Great Patriotic War, M. Mikhail Alexandrovich determined the functional dependence of the shock wave on the number of blown up TNTs in the year. Later, the “Sadovsky formula” was improved in relation to a nuclear explosion and is used to determine the so -called Trotyl equivalent of a nuclear explosion power. He, as part of a group of scientists, was instructed to analyze all available materials about the consequences of the use of nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and determine the effectiveness of the factors of an explosive wave, thermal and radioactive radiation.

He continued research in the development of a methodology for evaluating seismic danger during industrial explosions. In April, the institute decided to organize a special sector for the study of the theory of nuclear chain reactions and explosions, the development of methods and special equipment for registering physical processes that accompany the atomic explosion.

Given the experience of M. Sadovsky, he was instructed to develop and manufacture registration equipment for the first test of the atomic bomb. Mikhail Alexandrovich was appointed deputy director of the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, also the head of the special sector for the experimental study of all the parameters of the nuclear explosion.

Mikhail Aleksandrovich and the special sector he led by him coped with the task: during the first test of the Soviet nuclear bomb, RDS-1 used the equipment created at the Institute, including registering devices to control the physical process of the explosion, the system of automatic inclusion, the system of undermining the atomic charge itself.

Biography of Sadovsky

In addition to the preparation of equipment, it was necessary to solve the issue of the place of organization of the landfill to test the first nuclear charge. With the direct participation of M. Sadovsky, a district was chosen in a deserted steppe area, kilometers from the city of Semipalatinsk. During the tests of the first nuclear charge, Mikhail Alexandrovich was appointed the scientific director of physical measurements.

It was on him that the development of the training plan for the training ground, the author’s supervision of the construction of the experimental field was assigned. For the management of the development of the latest devices and the methods of measuring the atomic explosion by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 29, Sadovsky was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Alewa and Hammer.

Sadovsky, together with other scientists, introduced an additional point on the experimental study of the possibilities of long -term instrumental intelligence of the place of nuclear explosion by observing radio interference, seismic fluctuations and tracking the radioactive explosion products over long distances from the landfill. In the year, the team of M.

Sadovsky entrusted the development and preparation of measuring equipment for the test of the first thermonuclear charge of the RDS-6s. Mikhail Aleksandrovich worked for up to a year as the supervisor of the physical measurements of the training ground. And then Sadovsky was attracted to solving the problem related to the prohibition of nuclear tests and monitoring compliance with possible agreements in this area, he worked as part of the Soviet delegation at a meeting of experts in Geneva.

In the year, Mikhail Alexandrovich was appointed the scientific director of the first underground nuclear explosion. For a set of work on hardware registration, the staff of employees, led by M. Sadovsky, was awarded the Lenin Prize. Since the year M., on the initiative of Mikhail Alexandrovich, from the year, experimental work was launched to search for places for the construction of seismic stations.

In the year, Mikhail Alexandrovich Sadovsky for outstanding achievements in the field of geology and geophysics was awarded the highest award of the USSR Academy of Sciences - the Golden Medal named after Sadovsky one way or another was involved in all large explosions, which was produced in the country both in defense and scientific purposes. At the same time, studying nuclear explosions, Mikhail Alexandrovich always advocated the peaceful use of atomic energy.
