The girl became a long -awaited and beloved child, daily delighting her parents and grandmother with her smile. However, when Daria was not yet two years old, she fell ill. The family was alerted by the weakness of the child, and they went to the hospital, where after the examination they heard a terrible diagnosis - leukemia. The world of the Sorokins collapsed overnight.

For two and a half years they were engaged in the treatment of their daughter, having tried all the methods, including radio and chemotherapy. At first, a positive dynamics was observed and it seemed that cancer was retreating. By the age of four, Daria passed the full course of treatment, but the respite was too short: after seven months, the disease returned, and even with complications, giving metastases to the brain.

The subsequent life of Dasha and her mother took place in hospital wards. They again dripped endless drugs, but the previous tactics did not bear fruit. Then it was the issue of bone marrow transplantation, which the Sorokins decided to do in Israel, in the Hadassa clinic. After the transplantation, the girl was waiting for an anesthesia and complex therapy, including irradiation of the whole body.

When all the difficulties were behind, another test fell on the family - cytomegalovirus. The girl’s weakened organism, the girls tried to heal from the new misfortune, but relief came only a few weeks later, when a rare, only recently passed test of the drug was obtained. Since then, Dasha was recovering, and the happy Sorokins returned to Moscow. The disease complicated systematic classes, but the girl at the first opportunity reached for the instrument, which became a kind of salvation for her. Parents noted that the music helped her daughter to endure pain and distracted her even at those moments when the child had no strength to play and smiles. Dasha took the first prize among the same age at the pianists contest in Tel Aviv and participated in the festival “Moscow meets friends”, supervised by the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation. Daria Sorokina at the Blue Bird contest now Daria continues to make music.
