Agraba biography

Therefore, any talented musician can be safely called a wizard who can play on the innermost strings of the human soul. Today we will introduce you to one of them. This is a young composer, performer and popular Russian DJ Azamat Agraba. In an interview for Artifex, Azamat told how his career was formed, revealed some “secrets” of his work and shared his plans for the future. Artifex: Azamat, hello!

Please tell us what projects you are working on now? What are your creative plans for the near future? This story will be designed to reveal the meaning, bounds and depth of emotions contained in music. She will be able to show human experiences and meanings in which many recognize themselves. Thus, the album will include 9 musical compositions, a co -author book and its visual implementation.

All this will be harmoniously combined within the framework of the concert tour. I also received an invitation to perform in August this year at the famous American festival Burning Man. At the end of this year, together with my like-minded people and friends, I launch the creative platform of the Noise and Silence label, which, in addition to the release of electronic, experimental, neo-classical and other music, will implement various art projects.

Artifex: How did the Azamat project appear? How does it differ from Agraba? How can you characterize it? I began my path on the dance, electronic scene under the AGRABA project, which was based on the musical style of House. At some point in my DJ career, I wanted to do more: playing my compositions live, find new musical forms of communication with people. Professionalism and work with various musical instruments, finding new forms in music came with experience.

I am grateful to someone from above who sends this information to me. Artifex: In live performances, you like to experiment and use non -standard approaches, for example, perform with the orchestra. Where did this idea come from? The combination of electronic music with the classical was already before me and continues to actively develop in modern music. I only received from this project a lot of experience that I will use in my new works.

Modern technologies simplify the connection of the electronic world with live sound, which allows you to find new musical forms. The main task was to find the right approach, contact with each musician. It is important that the musician remains himself, with his own peculiarity, but at the same time found a place in the overall musical picture. I began my work with instrumental musicians without a score.

At the first rehearsal, I wanted to hear and understand each of them, and after that we wrote notes. In March of this year, my concert was held together with the ensemble at the Gazagolder site in Moscow. Everything went at the proper level. And of course, thanks to all those who came to the concert or were mentally with me. Artifex: Now you are one of the fashionable and recognizable Russian DJs.

Tell us where it all started? My first steps were the creation of music. At an early age, I played the piano, and in school time I had my own rock band. I am still a great fan of the legendary Pink Floyd group. In the first courses of the Institute of Culture and Arts in the city of Krasnodar, I began to get involved in electronic music. And then I mastered the DJ profession, which allowed me to quickly introduce the audience to my work.

I do not consider myself a fashionable DJ. Rather, I am from those DJs who have no framework in the musical world. I never tied myself to a certain style of music. I create and play as I feel at the moment. Artifex: You recently took part in the Simiram Showcase festival.

Agraba biography

I heard that this is not the first time you are invited there. First of all, Simiram is a project of my good friends, and I am always happy to participate in this event, whether it is taking place in Thailand, on the island of Pangan, or in our capital of Moscow. I always meet at this event a lot of my friends and colleagues, a friendly atmosphere reigns there.

I believe that the creative and creative approach of the organizers strengthens the meaning of this festival. Has this city influenced your work and development as a DJ? Tell us about this period of life. My period of residence in the city of Berlin, of course, left his pleasant mark. You don’t even notice how with sips of air you swallow all the creative that surrounds you.

I began to create my first living performance in this city. Due to the presence of different music and approaches to it, I had my own view of this. Artifex: You regularly visit many cities and countries. Where, in your opinion, is the most cheerful audience? Almost every weekend I am in different cities, and every city is good in its own way. I am grateful to the public who meets me warmly and is openly related to my experiments.

Artifex: How are you preparing for a performance? Maybe you have some kind of special ritual?I practically do not prepare for the DJ seta if you do not mention careful tracking of the material in advance. And during the set there is a kind of improvisation, I do not have a prepared track of a sheet or something else. But there is a kind of fetish: for any next performance, prepare at least two or three new compositions to make it more interesting.

Artifex: What fascinates you, besides music? Sometimes I have such periods when there is no inspiration, and I go all day from one corner to another, I wave and do not know what to do with myself. This is the most difficult time for me. Artifex: What can you wish for those who just get on the DJing path? Being yourself, but not be afraid to take an example from your idols. Artifex: And finally, please share your signature recipe for a good mood!
